This footrest is an assistive positioning device designed to provide stable support for a user’s feet while seated. It can be customized to an individual’s height and seating needs, helping improve lower-extremity positioning, comfort, and overall seated posture. Devices like this may be especially useful for individuals whose feet don't comfortably reach the floor or who require additional positioning support during daily activities.
The footrest was fabricated primarily from tri-wall cardboard, a lightweight but durable material commonly used to create low-cost custom assistive devices. I measured and cut individual cardboard components using hand tools, then assembled the pieces into a reinforced structure capable of supporting the user’s feet. The fabrication process required careful measurement, repeated fitting, and attention to structural stability to create a device that was both functional and appropriate for the intended user.
