This prone standing frame is an assistive positioning device designed to support individuals who can't independently maintain a standing position. The user is supported from the front while positioned at a slight forward angle, allowing them to safely bear weight through their legs while maintaining postural alignment. Prone standers can be used in rehabilitation, therapy, school, or home environments to encourage supported standing and give users greater access to activities and interaction from an upright position.
The frame was fabricated primarily from tri-wall cardboard, using multiple measured and shaped components to create a sturdy supporting structure. Pieces were cut and modified to form the frame, including creating specific openings and cutouts with a chisel. The cardboard components were joined and reinforced using both hot glue and white glue to provide structural stability. Corners and exposed edges were shaped, rounded, and finished to create smoother surfaces and make the final device safer and more comfortable for use.
