Land Acknowledgement
I would like to acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki , the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik People first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship.
Philosophy Statement
As creators of music, we believe that all learners should be given the opportunity to thrive in an environment where they feel secure and safe to grow mentally, physically, emotionally and socially. We believe that through product centred learning we are able to guide learners through the process of attaining a collaborative vision. We believe that learner experience adds value to the content presented. Through guidance towards collective goals, we will make a lasting impact on the value of music in our local community. We strive to provide a positive example where musicians learn about the impact of music education.
