Hello,
The grade 5 violin students have been working on producing enough muisc to perform in a recital and we have reached our goal. We are ready to have a grade 5 violin recital with two violin classes. One class from Cunard Jr High and one from Elizabeth Sutherland. This recital will bring together these two classes to show off the work we have been doing as individual classes and will showcase how we can come together to share the muisc.
The format of this recital will have the students play and the teacher will speak about the challenges and skills that the students have been working on. The recital will run about 40 minutes.
The recital will be in Elizabeth Sutherland School Library. There is no cost and families are welcome.
We hope to see you at the recital.
VIOLA STUDENTS
All-City Viola Classes for Junior and Senior High
What: Specialized instruction in a class designed to build viola technique, focusing on tone production, tuning and left hand facility.
Who: Any students taking strings in junior or senior high.
When: Wednesday afternoons
Junior highs – 6pm
Senior highs – 6:45pm
Where: Central Junior High HRA Campus
1787 Preston st, Halifax
Why: It is a wonderful opportunity to improve your playing skills with specific instruction for this instrument. If you are taking strings in your school, it is understood that you will also attend these group classes. And it is fun to play together with other violists of your level.

Junior Chamber Orchestra for Strings
This is an ensemble open to string players in grades 7-10 (with some exceptions) designed as an enhancement to their weekly lessons and school-based ensembles. Repertoire is more challenging and students get to play with others who are also keen to improve their skills. There are special performance opportunities during the year.
Wednesday afternoons, 4:30-6:00.
