What will I learn on an ITT Course?
As you train to teach your provider will use this curriculum.
This is a minimum expectation. It is not an assessment tool.
You will be expected to show that you are meeting the Teacher Standards.
These are only assessed at the very end of the year
This includes two of the teacher standards:
High Expectations (S1)
Managing Behaviour (S7)
These standards link to the classroom but also everything that Children learn and experience in school and society. Teachers have the ability to affect and improve the wellbeing, motivation and behaviour of their pupils. Building healthy relationships, positive and predictable and safe relationships. These standards show how this can be achieved.
This section covers three of the teacher standards:
How Pupils Learn (S2)
Classroom Practice (S4)
Adaptive Teaching (S5)
A school’s curriculum enables it to set out its vision for the knowledge, skills and values that its pupils will learn, encompassing the national curriculum within a coherent wider vision for successful learning. Secure subject knowledge helps teachers to motivate pupils and teach effectively. Knowledge of the whole curriculum journey and the subject area will help when you are planning lessons for pupils.
1. Effective assessment is critical to teaching because it provides teachers with information about pupils’ understanding and needs.
2. Good assessment helps teachers avoid being over-influenced by potentially misleading factors, such as how busy pupils appear.
Teachers uphold public trust in the profession and maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour, within and outside school. Teachers are expected to continue to develop and deepen understanding of the Teacher Standards. Effective professional development is likely to be sustained over time, involve expert support or coaching and opportunities for collaboration.
