• AAS - Acta Apostolicae Sedis - (Latin for "Acts of the Apostolic See") is the official gazette of the Holy See, appearing about twelve times a year. (More info)

• AF - J.B. Lightfoot, ed., The Apostolic Fathers (New York: Macmillan, 1889-1890)

• AG - Ad Gentes - (To the Nations) is the Second Vatican Council's decree on missionary activity. (More info)

• Ben - de Benedictionibus - Contains the norms and rites for blessings and sacramentals as reformed after the Second Vatican Council. (View the Latin Book)

• CA - Centesimus Annus -  (Latin for "the hundredth year") is an encyclical which was written by Pope John Paul II in 1991 on the hundredth anniversary of Rerum novarum, an encyclical issued by Pope Leo XIII in 1891. It is part of a larger body of writings, known as Catholic social teaching, which trace their origin to Rerum novarum and aim to relate the teachings of Jesus to the industrial age. (More info)

R. - Catechismus Romanus - The Roman Catechism or Catechism of the Council of Trent is a compendium of Catholic doctrine commissioned during the Counter-Reformation by the Council of Trent, to expound doctrine and to improve the theological understanding of the clergy. • CCEO - Corpus/Codex Canonum Ecclisarum Orientalium - The Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches is the title of the 1990 work which is a codification of the common portions of the canon law for the 23 Eastern Catholic Churches in the Catholic Church. (More info)

• CD - Christus Dominus  (Christ the Lord; abbreviation "CD") is the Second Vatican Council's "Decree on the Pastoral Office of Bishops". (More info)

• CIC - Codex Iuris Canonici - Code of Canon Law (Vatican) - The canon law of the Catholic Church ("canon law" comes from Latin ius canonicum) is "how the Church organizes and governs herself". (More info)
