Art is critical to the other STEAM disciplines. You might think that art and the sciences are different fields that don’t overlap. But today, many STEAM fields have career opportunities that offer the ability to combine creative arts with the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathmatics.

Architects design buildings, bridges, and homes that are functional and aesthetically pleasing. Like artists, the architect needs to envision the structure, develop plans, and draw out designs and drafting. They use math and physical science to design buildings that are earthquake resistant, environmentally friendly and long-lasting, as well as beautiful.
Software Developers can combine computer and art skills to create computer programs involving music and graphic design. Some software are used to assist with composing, tuning, or editing. Developers also rigorously test their products to ensure that the software is ready for public release.
Robotics Engineers combine science, engineering, math, and huge amount of creativity to design and test robotic systems and ensure that robotic machines operate safely.
Medical Illustrators and Animators create the images for medical and scientific manuals, books, and websites. They often have training in surgical illustration, medical photography as well as sciences like biochemistry, molecular science, physiology, or embryology in order to produce realistic medical images and models.
3-D Modelers develop 3-dimensional visual representations of objects, people, and characters for video games, movies, architecture, engineering, and advertising using computer software.
Art Therapists use art in clinical practice to help patients explore their feelings and emotional conflicts that impair psychological, cognitive, and physical well-being.
