2023 Sth Qld DF65 Championship - 29th July 2023
I keep hearing the grumbling about our non-predictable Springfield Lakes Weather. I just want to let you know that we love it.
As per the forecast, 1-3 knots with some lulls. Sun shining, cool in the morning, not to hot in the afternoon and a breeze blowing most of the day with a relaxing picturesque setting. How could you not love it.
5 from the first 6 places went to Springfield skippers, more about that later but first the important stuff.
The Sth Queensland DF65 Regatta wouldn’t be a Regatta without the participating clubs and its members traveling to the event.
Thanks to:-
Redlands RSC - 9 Skippers
Paradise RYC - 3 Skippers
Springfield Lakes RCYC – 8 Skippers
A special thanks to:-
Those Springfield Skippers who didn’t race because someone needs to run the event.
John Heard – Organizer/Official/Observer
Ian Ashe - PRO
David Black – Scorer
Norm Gough - Treasurer
Mark Jenks – Observer
Andrew Sexton - Observer
Ian Watson - Finish Recorder
Ian Lobley – Events Recorder
A very special thanks to:- Shelley Heard who is always there to record the Sail Numbers when they cross the finish line and help David put them into the system. Not an easy task which comes with a lot of responsibility over the entire event. 9:30am to 3:00pm. Thanks to the race winners calling out the numbers for Shelley to record. Mikes wife Jenny for recording the events also. Kay for baking the cakes, I know how good they were as I had a couple of slices.
Then there are the podium places.
Mike Jefferys (Springfield) taking out first place. Well done Mike.
Roy Wallace (Springfield) taking second place. Well done Roy.
Daniel Bergan (Paradise) on the podium with Third Place. Well done Daniel.
Ian Gordon (Springfield) taking out 4th place overall, also winning the Masters and the Grand Masters. How good is that, well done Ian.
Its not just those listed above that should be thanked, the list goes on. The committee members who organized the day and I am not sure just what that entails but here is some of it, the toilet, all the equipment used, Coffee, drinks, white board, kayak, Tents (from all participating clubs) and I am sure there are some who helped not listed. Someone has to do it and we all know it doesn’t just happen so a very special thanks to them also.
