IOM Handicap- Round 7
Saturday 3rd December 2022
Today was Round 7 and final Handicap event for the IOM Class. A blustery South Easter made the sailing sometime difficult but never boring.
Every sailor, bar one, managed to win a race, with Murray’s boat developing a fault so he had to withdraw after a few races.
Ian Gordon led the charge with 5 wins finishing with 20 points, Ian Robertson Second on 39 points and Marty Wallace Third on 40 points.
Congratulations to the place getters and thank you to Ian Ashe for doing the PRO job again, Bob Bray who made the calls across the line and John Heard who managed to sail and sort out the Handicaps after every race.
Next Saturday is the Clubs Xmas presentation day so if you haven’t yet registered, please inform John Heard so we can cater properly.
This is the last official Result sheet for the year. It has been fun doing these pages.
Merry Xmas to everyone

Saturday 24th September 2022
6 starters for this round, so there were only occasional calamities on the start line.
Typical variable winds on the lake and we used our ‘long-leg’ format from buoys 1-3 to the first rounding of #5 and #6. Sufficient wind to get 14 races in. Thanks to Ian Ashe for fronting up as the RO of the day and Ian Lobley with the starting gun.
1st, A great day for Mark Jents with 7 wins finishing on 21,
2nd Doug Wells had a consistent run of placings, ending on 34, and Murray Walker, a close 3rd, on 35.

9 starters for today, and because it was a handicap event the fleet was spread out. Winds were a bit light and variable, to the extent that the course direction was reversed a few times, causing a bit of confusion. Thanks to Shelley and Ian Watson for the scoring and Ian Lobley for starts and John as RO.
Well done to the place getters. 1st Murray Walker on 23 pts, 2nd Ian Gordon on 25pts and 3rd, John Heard on 30 pts. Special callout to Murray and Ian G who keep flying the Club flag by entering the major IOM events.

IOM Handicap - Round 1
Saturday 5th February 2022
Ian R has pointed out, for the first time ever, every boat won at least 1 race.
AMAZING !
6 entries to begin with and then 2 latecomers joined us to make 8 IOMs racing in the 1st round of the handicap event. Some contemplated B rigs but in the end all started with A rigs. Very robust conditions at times with some submarining but no damage, all finished the day intact.
Congratulations to Doug Wells finishing 2 points ahead of Ian Gordon with John Heard 3rd.
Thanks to Shelley Heard and Ian Watson for calling across the line and John Heard for Proing once again.
IOM Scratch- Round 1
Saturday 19th February 2022
Only 6 starters for today, so the starting was reasonably manageable. Winds were a bit light to very variable… until that storm hit, and did things change. Quite a few nose-dives out of control , rain so hard it was seriously difficult to see the buoys we were rounding, but lucking, no gear failures. That lasted 2 races, we decided it wasn’t worth retrieving boats in those conditions, so we left them out and raced.
Thanks to Shelley and Ian Watson for the scoring and John as RO.
Well done John Heard, first on 18, Marty on 26 came from a poor start to a great rush in the second half for second, and Ian Robertson third on 28.
IOM Scratch- Round 2
Saturday 12th March 2022
A good size fleet of 9 yachts turned up today for a great day of racing with the winds reasonably consistent through out the day and 12 races were completed.
Ian G showed that taking a couple of weeks holiday certainly helps as he managed a very credible 6 wins to take 1st place followed by Ian R and Doug 3rd.
Thanks to Ian W for scoring and Murray as RO
