The art of inquiring:

The art of inquiry is about how questions can be used to open another person's thinking and to help develop one’s thinking further or to stimulate collaborative knowledge creation. In addition, it is about how to recognise key utterances in another person´s/student´s speech.

Objectives:

Applicant/educator

  • is able to form unbiased open questions
  • is able to start a question with an interrogative pronoun and to ask short questions
  • is able to ask the other person about their thinking
  • is able to ask open questions to be able to recognize the key utterances of another´s speech

Criteria which are needed to show your skills and knowledge related to this soft skill:

Applicant/educator:

  • uses and forms open and unbiased questions by using an interrogative pronoun in order to broaden and facilitate collaborative thinking
  • recognises key utterances from another´s speech and is able to continue thinking based on these findings

Show your skills:

Link your evidence to the badge application form

  • Save some videos (max. 30 min) related to your teaching or guiding sessions which show how you´re using open questions when listening to another’s speech (synchronous or asynchronous situations)
  • Or write a reflective essay (max length 1-2 pages) where you describe specific situations when, how and where you have used questions as an opening method. You may add some captures from asynchronous situations which demonstrates tone´s specific skill.
  • Insert the link of your evidence into the application form.

Applications will not be graded and it is not possible to apply for badges after the piloting period has ended 1.5.2020.
