The Wedding

The Design

Revisions: I fixed some of the spacing issues and made all the leading between lines even.

Background: My sister is dating a guy named Cole and I decided to make them a wedding annoucement. As of now, there aren't any wedding plans set but you never know... Carli does lettering and flowers so I asked her for a flower image.

Contrast: I used a pale pink for the background and the dark black text.

Alignment: Because this is a more formal invitation, I kept everything centered. I also had guides set at 20%, 50% and 80%. All the text lines up with one of those guides.

Proxmity: I kept the important like information together, following a traditional wedding invite.

Repitition: The flowers at the top are the same flowers as the bottom one, just at different angels.

Color Scheme: Pale pink and black, the colors my sister likes.

Font Choice: I used Niveau Grotesk for their names and Bilo for everything else. I had a more formal type intially but my sister didn't want that.

Photoshop: I started with adding the pink background with a canvas texture. Once I had the color and text set, I added the text, keeping it centered. I did adjust the letter spacing so it wasn't as wide.

For the flowers, I used one of my sisters sketches. When I got the image into the wedding invite, I used a color range to get rid of all the white backgrounds. I wanted the background to be the pale pink. I shrunk the image down and placed it in the bottom center.

I wanted some detail at the top, so I copied the flower layer and free transformed the image at different angles to create a top border. To give the invite some color, I used a picture of wedding bouquets. Once the image of the bouquets was in photoshop, I used a linear burn, changed the opacity, turned it into a mask to edit out some of the extra and changed the hue/saturation.
