The Design

Revisions: I changed the background blue gradient so it wasn't as dark. I also added a drop shadow and changed the color of the tour company website. I also changed the Petra, Jordan from an arch to a bulge.

Background: When I was younger (and maybe even still today), I wanted to be Indiana Jones. The adventures, the artifacts, and that leather jacket... so cool. I made a tour poster for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. If your eyes are sharp, you'll find Dr. Jones, or better yet his shadow in the poster.

Contrast: I wanted the sky to stand out more so I changed that to a more exciting blue. It creates some fun contrast between the sky and the rocks.

Alignment: I kept the alignment so it reads like a book, from left to right. The website info is all across the bottom.

Proxmity: The info about Petra is all at the top and the tour info is at the bottom. If I wanted to add more about the tour, I would put it at the bottom.

Repitition: Petra and the website are the same font while the other text is the same kind.

Color Scheme: I kept all the text about Petra in the colors found in the image.

Font Choice: I actually used 2 different fonts! The cursive is called FenwayPark while the print is called Cubano, both are Adobe.

Photoshop: I started with the Petra image. I liked what the corrections made with the auto button in Bridge. Once in photo shop, I cropped the image and used the cutout filter. I set the layers at 8. This created a fun vintage looking image.

The sky didn't look as vibrant as I wanted so I used the magic wand tool to select the sky, and used the gradiant tool with the blue presets to change the sky color.

I added the text Petra Jordan and used a stroke around it. All the other text by Petra is matched to the colors in the image.

I used a white at the bottom to show the tour company.

Since this is based around Indiana Jones, I knew I wanted him somewhere in the image but not so that he takes away from Petra. I found a shadow image of him with the whip. Once I had that in photoshop, I used the distortion blur feature to put the shadow into the image. I did adjust the curves so the shadow fits better with the rocks.
