Exhibit 7
The Family Fix
The Design
Background: My Grandpa, after learning that I am taking a photoshop class, emailed me this image of his mother and her sisters (my great grandma's dad is there too). His mom, my great-grandma is on the far left. He asked me to see what I could do about fixing the image. As you can see in the orginal, some of the image is missing, there is a hole and some creases.
Contrast: Because this is an older image, I turned in strickly to black and white so the faint high and low lights show up.
Alignment: I did align the image so that the people in the image are on the far righ 2/3 of the picture. I kept some elements on the left side to keep some of the cool elements in the image and the house.
Proxmity: I did crop down the image so the focus is on the people, not the trees to the left.
Repitition: Besides the coloring of the black and white, nothing is repeated.
Color Scheme: The original image color is a sepia color, faded and somewhat stained. I went with strickly black and white.
Font Choice: I didn't add any text to the image.
Photoshop: My grandpa sent me this image. I hadn't seen this one before. You can tell from the original image there was lots of wear to the picture. There are deep creases, parts missing and an actual hole. I used camera raw to turn the image black and white and adjusted the contrast.
Once I had the image in photoshop, I cropped it which took care of some of the missing pieces. After the crop, I used the spot healing tool to take out the creases and bends. I also went through and darkened and lightened their clothing, faces and hair. I also used the clone stamp tool to copy and layer some of the clothing.
To heal the hole, I used the patch tool to copy some of the railing from behind where the hole is, and covered the hole with the patch I made. I did the same thing with some of the bricks behind my great grandma's head (the woman at the far left).
To cover up the missing right corner piece I used the spot healing tool to fade it.
