My English major with an emphasis in creative writing was a major, major, major, major undertaking. The major thing that I achieved within this major was making sure I always have certain referents within my sentences. That and being more informed about dystopian and religious literature, along with realizing that I make to many "its it's" errors.
My art minor with an emphasis in photography was—mostly—a joy to do. This minor developed my skills in creating things from my mind and making things that I do create look somewhat aesthetically pleasing. In summation, I can take what I want from my mind's memory and produce a hyperreality of said simulacrum, which is much better than the alternative of letting it fade into the oblivion of forgetfulness in my opinion.
My entrepreneurship minor was the hardest part of my degree without question. It had group work, actually convincing people to buy products I made, and producing said products within a very limited timeframe on top of a bunch of other coursework. These all culminated in making me look like a half dead weasel with red eyes that have stress lines under them. But, my hard work paid off, and the minor is done.
My writing minor might have been a little excessive—sure—but hey, it helped my writing improve. Not only that, but this website would be a far cry from what it was now, as the capstone class of this minor give me the opportunity to make it the capstone for my undergraduate education.
General education...I did not want to do it, but I guess it was not too bad now that it's in the rear-view mirror. The vocal intent behind it was to make me a well-rounded individual, to lay down a solid foundation for the heights I wish to build towards/strive for; however, I cannot shake the feeling that it may also be present to make sure the school got their money's worth out of me…
