Physical Education Fitness Assignment

Complete this exercise video with Joe, aka the Body Coach. Joe took it upon himself to provide 100's of thousands of kids of all fitness levels various at home exercise videos to keep them active during distance learning. In this video, he decides to dress up as a famous character, do you know who it is?

Rallying Activity Assignment

Rallying in an exchange of strokes in a court game such as tennis or volleyball. Watch this 'Rally Battle' video for an example of how to participate in today's assignment. You can do one or all six challenges shown; practice for at least 20 minutes.

  • Items needed for each 'Rally Battle' challenge:
    • Rally Circle or Divider - Hula hoop, circle or straight line taped on floor with painters tape or electrical tape, circle or line drawn on sidewalk with sidewalk chalk, or sheets (or towels) rolled up in the shape of a circle or line
    • Ball - Tennis ball or other small bouncy hand ball
      1. Catch & Throw - Rally circle and ball only
      2. Hand Bump Ups - Rally circle and ball only
      3. Book Bump Ups - Rally circle, ball, and easy to hold book
      4. Frying Pan Bump Ups - Rally circle, ball, and frying pan
      5. Rally Time - Rally divider, ball, and frying pan
      6. Shake Pans - Frying pans only!!

Complete these Superhero Workout videos:

Frisbee Activity: (Last day of Frisbee Unit)

Items Needed:

  • Laundry Baskets or buckets (as many as you would like your golf course to be)
  • Paper and tape to number your baskets
  • Frisbee, plastic, or paper plates
  • Paper and pencil for scoring

Frisbee Golf

      • Step 1: Spread out your laundry baskets (or buckets) outside in a random pattern
      • Step 2: Start at least 10 feet away from basket 1
      • Step 3: Throw the frisbee and try and get the frisbee to land inside a laundry basket
          • If it doesn't make it on the first throw, continue to throw frisbee from wherever it lands, keep track of how many attempts it takes to make it
      • Step 4: From previous basket, throw the frisbee to basket 2 and repeat Step 3.
          • Continue this pattern until all baskets are completed
          • Let us know your Frisbee golf score *remember, with golf, you want the lowest score possible! Have Fun!

Warm-up 3-5 minutes of one of the following cardiovascular exercises

  • Jump rope (with or without a short rope)
  • Stairs (up/down a flight of stairs or up/down a bottom step)
  • Walking or running (on a treadmill or outside around the block with parents permission)
  • Cycling (on a stationary bike or road bike around the block with a parents permission)

AMRAP for 7 minutes (as many rounds as possible)

  • 10 squats
  • 10 shoulder taps
  • 10 sit ups
  • 10 elbow dips

Cool-down

  • Yoga sequence

      • You will need empty laundry baskets
      • Step 1: Spread out your laundry baskets all around a room
      • Step 2: Back away from the laundry baskets (about 10 feet away)
      • Step 3: Throw the frisbee and try and get the frisbee to land inside a laundry basket
      • Step 4: Keep moving the laundry baskets further back and see how far you can throw the frisbee and still make it into a basket!
      • Challenge a family member to come and see if they can throw it into a laundry basket!

      • Step 1: You will need 5-10 plastic bottles or plastic cups
      • Step 2: Bowling pin setup on one side of the hall. (or outside)
      • Step 3: Get ready on the other side of the hall. (or at least 10-15 feet away if outside)
      • Step 4: Throw frisbee to knock down the pins!
        • Challenges
          • How many pins can you knock down in 1 throw?
          • How many attempts does it take to knock down all the pins?
          • How far away can you get and still be successful?
          • Can you beat your scores?

        • Step as you throw, step with the same side foot (if you are throwing with your right arm step with your right foot)

    • Cardiovascular exercise of your choice for at least 10 minutes (Ideas - walking around the block, going for a bike ride, running on a treadmill, going up and down the stairs)
    • Perform at least 20 repetitions of each of these exercises (modify as necessary)
      • Jumping jacks
      • Push-ups
      • Sit-ups
      • Stair steppers (up/down a bottom step)

      • Bicep Curls (weight idea - canned food)
      • Shoulder Presses


  • Soccer Activity:

Clean Your Room (Soccer Style) - this activity emphasizes soccer skills such as kicking, cardiovascular endurance, and strategy

Items needed: lots of rolled up socks (at least 15), a timer, some sort of divider (like cones or a rope), and a partner to play with

    • Pick a room and divide it in half, each player picks which is their side
    • Spread out all the socks between both sides
    • Set timer for 5 minutes
    • Start play; players kick the socks to other side as fast as they can while the opponent does the same - continue this until the time runs out
    • When time runs out, each player counts how many socks they have on their side - least amount wins!

  • Soccer Activity: Red Light Green Light Soccer Style

This version of the classic Red Light Green Light game emphasis soccer skills such as dribbling, trapping, and kicking a ball right in your own backyard.

  • Start with everyone along the starting line with their ball,
  • When the callers says ‘Green Light’ everyone will dribble their soccer ball towards the finish line,
  • When the caller says ‘Red Light’ everyone must immediately trap their soccer ball,
  • When you get close enough to the goal, kick to score. If you miss, go back to start,
  • Start a new round when everyone kicks a goal.
