Top tips for borrowers

• Overcommunicate especially at the start! Let the lender know what you want the car for and how many people will be in it (so they can remove things like car seats / dog basket etc only if you need them to)

• Remember they are not making money out of this, just covering their costs, it's not a commercial rental. So be on time, and treat their car like you would your own.

• Agree how you will deal with petrol (our suggestion - if you're driving for less than 20 miles, it's included, if it's more than 20 miles, you fill up car at 10p per mile driven).
