Characterization of Metallic Glass
I was involved in Electrical and Magnetic Characterization of a Metallic Glass [(Fe100-xVx)75P15C10 ]. This Nano crystalline metallic glass shows soft magnetic behavior with saturation magnetization of 130 emu/g, permeability of 2×103 at 1 KHz as well as resonance behavior around 100 MHz
Following measurements were performed:
- SEM, EDX, XRD analysis for determining the morphology and topography
- Electrical Characterization:
- I-V-T measurement using 4 probe method and detection of glass transition temperature through observing the first sharp fall in resistivity
- Observation of frequency response (1-120MHz) using Wayne-Kerr impedance analyzer and modeling of equivalent circuit, Cole-Cole plot & Loss tangent, permeability measurement
- High temperature (up to 500 degree Celsius) impedance analysis
- Magnetic Characterization:
- High temperature measurement (up to 500 degree Celsius) of hysteresis & magnetoresistance
- Measurement of magnetostriction for magnetic field of 0-5kOe
- Low temperature magnetoresistance measurement (with ARSCryo closed cycle He Cryostat)
