BADMINTON


FACILITIES 

Official Badminton courts 

Competition can be organised per group and the best 2 players per group will play off, or you can use a match scheduling system. Competition hosts choice.


ROSTERS 

Maximum 6 players per school per category. This is based on the Competition Organiser's ability to accommodate players to ensure a fair competition and adequate playing time. Other possibilities may be 3 or 4 to be communicated at time of entry.


AGE CATEGORIES 

Age categories will follow SGIS Handbook policy. 


OFFICIAL RULES 

F.I.B (with exceptions as stated by the Competition Organiser). 


SPECIAL RULES 

Players are responsible for refereeing and keeping score. 

Players must report to the scorer’s desk when their match is called and also when their match is over to report the score. 

Coaches will be allowed to consult briefly with their players at changeovers. All protests must go to the Competition Organiser.


COMPETITION STRUCTURE

Based on the number of participants, the competition organiser will choose the most appropriate format ensuring the maximum game time for all players. 

Depending on the number of participants, there should be a seeding round-robin followed by placing matches. 

Timed matches may be used during the seeding rounds. For example, 8-minute games. Placing or elimination rounds should be full games of one set where possible.

Where possible, playing time should be maximised and all players competing for the duration of the competition. Recommended at least 6 matches.


RESULTS 

All matches will be played to one set. 

21 points to win a set with 2 points difference. 

At 24-24, the next point wins the game.

Team awards are based on the number of entries per team determined by the Competition Organiser. It is recommended that if there is a team size of 6, then the top 3 score. If there are 4, then the top 2.
