In 1962, Isle of Wight TV was launched. In 1995, it was brought by Carlton, and it became Carlton in 1999. It became ITV1 Isle of Wight in 2002, and ITV Isle of Wight (called ITV only onscreen) in 2013.
In 1962, ITV came to the Isle of Wight with the launch of Isle of Wight Television. Their first ident was short, simple, and straight to the point.
Isle of Wight Television introduced their very first color ident to TV screens in November 1969 with new animation and new music for this ident.
In 1977, Isle of Wight Television removed the "IN COLOUR" strap and introduced a new animated ident with a recreated version of the 1969 ident's music.
Isle of Wight Television created its first CGI ident in 1986 with yet another version of the 1969 ident's music.
In 1989, Isle of Wight Television stepped up to its plate and adopted its version of the 1989 ITV Generic look. The ident tested well with viewers and stayed on-screen until 1996.
When Isle of Wight Television introduced this ident in 1996, Carlton Television had already purchased Isle of Wight Television a year earlier.
In 1998, Isle of Wight TV was Carltonized, but with "CARLTON" reading "ISLE OF WIGHT". On 6th September 1999, Isle of Wight Television was replaced with Carlton Isle of Wight.
