When September 3, 1999 came, Carlton is going to replace ITV and others. Here's what's going to happen.
The "Stay Tuned" slide in green, broadcast on September 3.
Here is an orange slide where ITV is becoming Carlton on Monday at 6:00, broadcast September 4.
A purple slide where ITV is becoming Carlton tomorrow at 6:00, broadcast September 5.
But when September 4 came, a pink countdown screen appeared. Five minutes until the new Carlton...
The countdown ended...what's next?
Poor ITV. Carlton took over the network. Now Carlton has taken over British television. This is a blue slide where ITV became Carlton.
After the blue slide, a red one appeared saying that Carlton is now broadcasting all over the UK.
The first ident from the new Carlton network is this one, a still ident. They would later use the star idents alongside this and other idents. The 1996 idents were retired in 2000.
Then on ITV2, a green slide appeared saying that ITV2 has become Carlton 2.
Here's the first ident from Carlton 2. Unlike the original ident for Carlton, the trees are green instead of light blue. Some other idents have small differences.
The other ITV channels has also become Carlton: ITV News has became Carlton News, CITV has become Carlton Kids, etc. However, Carlton didn't replace the regions including Roblox, Central, HTV, Westcountry, Isle of Wight, WCT, Scottish, Yorkshire, TVM, Orkney, etc, as well as GMTV. As of 2024, the Carlton network still exists and the star idents are still being used, but the regions have different idents, for example Central uses new cake idents.
