I visited Wooloowin station on 11 March 2018.
Wooloowin is located on the Airport, Doomben and Shorncliffe lines and is served by all train services travelling from Domestic Terminal, Doomben, Northgate and Shorncliffe to Roma Street with many continuing to Cannon Hill, Cleveland and Varsity Lakes. Wooloowin is located 6.4 km from Roma Street and the approximate travel time is 15 minutes.
Wooloowin is located in zone 1 meaning that the fares between Wooloowin and Roma Street are:
In 1882, when the Sandgate line (now Shorncliffe line) opened the stations of Lutwyche and Thorroldtown opened. In 1886, the line was duplicated through the station from Bowen Hills to Eagle Junction. In 1888, the patronage of the stations at Eagle Junction, Thorroldtown and Lutwyche was expressed as a percentage and 64% of people used Lutwyche, 34% used Eagle Junction and only 2% used Thorroldtown. As a result Thorroldtown closed in 1890 and Lutwyche station was renamed Wooloowin and it moved 300 metres north to it's current location. The North Coast line was electrified to Northgate in 1982 and as a result in the increase of patronage as a result of electrification resulted in the quadruplication to Northgate in 1996. Wooloowin means either pigeon or a species of fish in the local Aboriginal language.
Wooloowin station has four platforms consisting of two side platforms and an island platform. Platform 1 is for Cannon Hill, Cleveland, Park Road, Roma Street and Varsity Lakes services, platform 2 is for Domestic Terminal, Doomben, Northgate and Shorncliffe services and platforms 3 and 4 are only used by a couple of peak hour services as they were for Caboolture and Nambour services which from 4 October 2016 are now running express from Petrie to Bowen Hills stopping only at Northgate and Eagle Junction coinciding with the opening of the Redcliffe Peninsula Line opening which don't stop at Wooloowin either. Redcliffe Peninsula line trains serve all stations from Kippa-Ring to Northgate.
Wooloowin station has three entrances. Two are on Bridge Street and one is on Hudson Road
Wooloowin does have disability access however assistance is required due to the steep ramp.
