STALLION MARCHING BAND
The Stallion Marching Band is one of the most visible ensembles and is a co-curricular ensemble that meets outside of the regular school day. They perform at all home Varsity football games and Marching Band Competitions/Assessments (both in and out of the state). The band begins rehearsals approximately three weeks before school starts with annual pre-season rehearsals.
Marching Band teaches cooperative skills, group dynamics, commitment, dedication, time management, the rewards of effort, the joys of friendship, and allows a deeper understanding of music and expression from a more physically rewarding approach. Through this activity, students will learn the values of strong work ethic, accountability, responsibility, leadership, sacrifice, discipline, teamwork, and pride.
The marching band is a co-curricular ensemble at South County High School. This ensemble meets beginning in August, with competitive season lasting until late October to early November. The ensemble holds a heavy after-school schedule throughout the first two months of school. Auditions are required for the drumline and student leadership positions. All other spots are unauditioned and open to all. Students must be a member of a MUSIC class at South County High School in order to participate, with only exception being the colorguard (colorguard members do not need to be enrolled in a music class). Information about the upcoming marching band season will be distributed in mid to late April.
Instrumentation is at the discretion of the instructor.
