Primary Teacher Librarian Services Credential Standard Demonstrated:
6A: Candidates examine best practices to plan, develop, budget for, implement, and assess school library programs. Candidates are able to develop and implement policies, procedures, and services in support of the school’s mission and according to the ethics and principles of library and information science.
In LIB 736 Evaluation and Promotion of Young Adult Literature, I created a proposal to promote diversity and empathy.
This proposal, "Baby I Was Born This Way!!!" required me to plan, develop, budget for, and assess my library program. The proposal supported our school's mission to uphold character education as a priority, because the objective was to start the year off with kindness and empathy by reading own-voice books about diverse groups of people.

6B: Candidates gain the skills to supervise classified staff, student library assistants, and volunteers.
During LIB715 I created a Personnel guide for staff working in the library.
I developed a personnel guide within my library's procedures manual, outlining staff and volunteer roles, reporting protocols, and substitute information. This project provides a clear structure for supervising classified staff, student assistants, and volunteers. The guide ensures that all team members understand their responsibilities and who to report to, promoting an organized and efficient workflow. By defining duties and expectations, I gained the skills necessary to manage and lead a diverse group, ensuring the library operates smoothly under all circumstances.

6C: Candidates evaluate and select physical, digital and virtual resources using a selection policy, professional selection tools, and evaluation criteria.
During LIB 736 Evaluation and Promotion of Young Adult Literature, I created a list of books to satisfy a diverse population of readers.
This book collection list represents award-winners, realistic fiction, culturally diverse picks, informational texts, quick reads, and graphic novels in both print and digital formats. The texts were chosen based off of the Titlewave criteria for meeting the interest levels of a young adult audience, as well as having positive reviews from reputable library groups.

This collection list reflects book titles for Kindergarten through eighth grades. The genres & formats represented include: Award winning titles, Picture Books, Traditional Tales, Poetry, Contemporary Realistic Fiction, Historical Fiction, Fantasy, and Informational texts. I was careful to include books written in own-voice and which represent a diversity of viewpoints and cultures.

6E: Candidates organize the collection according to standard
In LIB715 I created a guide to catalog various categories of our collection and a guide to process our collection using Destiny and Demco.
The cataloging guide for our collection and the procedural guide for processing materials using Destiny and Demco ensures that the library collection is organized according to professional standards. The guide supports consistent cataloging practices, streamlining how items are classified and processed within the collection. By adhering to standard protocols, I have enhanced the accessibility and usability of our collection, ensuring that staff and volunteers can maintain the collection efficiently and effectively. This project strengthened my skills in organizing library resources systematically.
