Primary Teacher Librarian Services Credential Standard Demonstrated:
2A: Candidates use a variety of instructional strategies and assessment tools, including current and emerging technologies, to design, develop and implement standards-based learning experiences independently and in collaboration with teachers and other members of the educational community.
In LIB 720, Selection & Organization of Learning Resources, I completed a collection and weeding project, which required collaboration between teacher librarian, classroom teacher, and art teacher on an integrated unit about great American artists.
The Collection Development and Weeding Project used a variety of instructional strategies including online research using databases and books in print, the creation of 2 art projects replicating one famous work of art and one great American artist portrait, and the use of Google Workspace to create a Google Site housing the research done on the artists. Using the online database was new to these students, and helped them begin recognizing what a reliable resource looks like. The components of this unit met CA state standards under the subject areas of language arts, art, and library & information technology. This unit required collaboration between the art teacher, the classroom teacher, and the teacher librarian. This project helped me to better evaluate my teaching methods, and required me to communicate with my colleagues more effectively for the good of our students learning and achievement.

2B: Candidates apply their knowledge of learners and learning to design instruction based on Model School Library Standards for California Public Schools, other academic content standards, learners’ interests and learning needs, and to link assessment to student achievement.
During Lib740 I taught a lesson about how to do digital research on animals to first graders. I then evaluated the lesson plan using the Triple E Framework Rubric.
This artifact demonstrates mastery by linking the TripleE evaluation/assessment to a more meaningful and relevant lesson for students. By evaluating and reflecting on the lesson, I was able to better understand learners' interests and needs, thereby improving my instruction, especially as it pertains to technology integration.

This paper was a component of the LIB 705 Information Technologies Class. This is a learning theory paper, in APA format, based on my research on the theory of andragogy and connectivism, and how each applies to the life of a graduate student and teacher librarian.
While researching the theories of andragogy and connectivism, I was able to better understand the most effective methods of adult learning. This is relevant when becoming a resource to my colleagues. Presenting and teaching information to adults is quite different than teaching children. I will create more self guided tutorials for my colleagues to learn effective technologies or ways to connect information that they can complete in their own time. Connectivism is essential to meet this goal. We must be able to find and utilize current and relevant information and use up-to-date platforms to understand, synthesize, and apply new information as adult learners. As teachers develop professionally, so does their quality of teaching, and therefore so does the student learning.
