Primary Teacher Librarian Services Credential Standard Demonstrated:
10A: Candidates demonstrate their knowledge of information and digital literacy, including the nature, architecture, and cycle of information, technology resources and tools.
In LIB 705 Information Technologies, I created a robust digital technology guide that can be used by teachers and students.
By teaching and guiding teachers and students to successfully navigate various technology platforms throughout this technology guide, I have demonstrated my knowledge of information and digital literacy. I demonstrated an understanding of architecture by creating an organized and user friendly site to display consistently updated technology resources and tools.
Primary Teacher Librarian Services Credential Standard Demonstrated:
10B: Candidates model information literacy: how to access, evaluate, process, use, integrate, generate, and communicate information. Candidates demonstrate competency in transliteracy.
During LIB 705 Information Technologies, I created a digital guide, that includes video tutorials, to help other teachers navigate the library management system Follett Destiny.
Teaching is mastery, and in this guide I model how to access destiny, evaluate the available resources on the platform, process, use, integrate, generate text sets, and communicate to teachers and students.
Primary Teacher Librarian Services Credential Standard Demonstrated:
10C: Candidates articulate how formats and communication channels impact information and how information and ideas are processed and transformed using digital tools.
During LIB 705 Information Technologies, I met with other students in the program to discuss and compare & contrast various technologies to support teachers, students, and to enhance curriculum.
I articulated how formats and communication channels impact information, during weekly meetings with fellow classmates. We reviewed information ideas and new technologies as digital tools to better the lives of our students, teachers, and ourselves. We submitted summaries of our main takeaways from the perspective of our partners.
Primary Teacher Librarian Services Credential Standard Demonstrated:
10D: Candidates model and communicate ethical, legal and safe use of information and technology, including digital citizenship.
During LIB 705 Information Technologies, I reviewed my schools' acceptable use policy, then created a student friendly video going over the highlights of the policy.
I interviewed our IT department head in a podcast to explore the intersections between his role and mine as a teacher librarian. This experience allowed me to better understand and communicate the ethical, legal, and safe use of technology in education. Through our conversation, I gained insights into how digital citizenship is managed and upheld in our school. By sharing these practices with students and colleagues, I model responsible technology use and reinforce the importance of maintaining digital ethics in our library and beyond.
