SC Hands & Voices primary goal is to support families. Support to families should include the three cornerstones of emotional support, information and resource dissemination, and modeling by other families. Our goal is that families will experience positive outcomes in all three areas listed above. SC Hands & Voices does through the following:
In-Person Family Mingles
The aim of these meetings is to create a supportive, fun, low-stakes environment where families of children who are D/deaf or hard of hearing (children and adults) or children of Deaf adults (CODA) can come together and get to know one another. Meetings are held monthly at various locations across the state alternating between the Upstate, Midlands, Pee Dee, and Lowcountry regions. Mingles are FREE of charge and held in two-hour durations as a casual drop-in style. Registration is recommended to help plan activities and refreshments but not required. Mingles are led by two local SCHV parent leads with youth activities and refreshments provided. NOTE: All children are required to be accompanied by a parent, guardian or another adult who has agreed to be responsible for the child. Parents, guardians and responsible adults will be responsible for the health and safety of the children under their care.
