SC Hands & Voices primary goal is to support families. Support to families should include the three cornerstones of emotional support, information and resource dissemination, and modeling by other families. Our goal is that families will experience positive outcomes in all three areas listed above. SC Hands & Voices does this through the following:

IN-PErson Family Mingles

The aim of these meetings is to create a supportive, fun, low-stakes environment where families of children who are D/deaf or hard of hearing (children and adults) can come together and get to know one another. Meetings are held monthly at various locations across the state alternating between the Upstate, Midlands, Pee Dee, and Lowcountry regions.

NOTE: All children are required to be accompanied by a parent, guardian or another adult who has agreed to be responsible for the child. Parents, guardians and responsible adults will be responsible for the health and safety of the children under their care.

Virtual Community

TOPIC TUESDAYS

SCHV and BEGINNINGS SC is partnering to bring you Topic Tuesdays 2.0 for parents! This is a monthly webinar series that includes ASL interpreters and captions for educational/social support meetings for parents of children who are D/deaf or hard of hearing. Topic Tuesdays will take place every third Tuesday of the month, date and times vary. Each presentation will be half an hour with time for Q&A and a casual parent chat at the end.

SC Hands & Voices Parents Group: a private Facebook group for SC parents, guardians, and primary caregivers of children who are D/deaf and hard of hearing. This group aims to be an open, safe space for these caregivers to come together and share advice, stories, worries, fears, questions, successes, goals, hardships, joys, and whatever else they would like.

SC Hands & Voices a public Facebook page for parents, families, and professionals. Here we post information about upcoming events, including all SC Hands & Voices activities; links to personal stories, interesting articles, and relevant research; information and links to sites that may be of interest to professionals in the field; and fun links to share with kids.
