I will create a substitute binder that will be placed on my desk anytime a sub needs to come in. In the binder there will be:
Class roster
Seating chart
Class rules and consequences
Daily Schedule
Detailed lesson plan
Sub notes sheet for them to fill out
Medical alerts and and medications for certain students
Teacher partners and helpful students
Emergency school procedures
Map of the school
Emergency sub plans in case I call out unexpectedly
(Evertson and Emmer, 2017, pg. 112)
Emergency Sub plans:
This will be a super important, critical part of the substitute binder. There will be a drawer in my classroom labeled with all of my substitute must-haves. Inside the drawer there will be a couple sub plans that are general and can be used when I unexpectedly miss a day. There will be activities and review work that the students have already learned.
Substitute Lanyard:
I will also include a substitue lanyard. The lanyard will be something quick and easy for the sub to grab when they are leaving the classroom. The lanyard will include the most important information.
On the lanyard:
Class List
Allergy List
Dismissal list
Passwords
Daily Schedule
