Interruptions: If a staff member needs immediate interaction with me then I will give my class a code word. When they hear the code word they will know to finish whatever we are working on and then grab a free read book and read until further instruction.
Re-Involving Students who Leave the Classroom: When students return to the classroom they will complete the routine established at the beginning of the year. Students will be expected to put away any materials we are no longer using and grab out the ones that are being used. If i am working with a small group when a student returns, I will give the small group an instruction and assignment to complete while i give the student that returned further instruction. My student helped for the day will explain the directions to the student that just returned (Evertson and Emmer, 2017, pg. 263).Â
Inclusion: Students will be assigned a seat based on where most of my instruction will take place, ensuring they can see the board, hear corrextly, and have access to help at any point. These students will be seated next to students who are further along and can explain information really well. I will ensure the class aid has a place to sit near them and be as transparent as possible with all authority figures in the students life. I will modify assignments as needed and follow all documents (ex. IEP) (Evertson and Emmer, 2017, pg. 265).
Cancelled Instruction: I will have an extra assignment or extra activities set to the side for whenever a special class is not being conducted. I will ensure anything be given to the student is meaningful work, giving them valuable learning time and not just busy work (Evertson and Emmer, 2017, pg. 263).
