Reservation Confirmation: When we have received your reservation and payment, we will confirm your reservation by email.
Activity and cabin signups: We will do signups by email, after the adult attendee meetings. For troops that have met all adult requirements, including meeting attendance, we will take signups for cabins and activity timeslots in the order that payment/reservations were received. We will provide details about all activity and cabin options at the adult attendee meetings.
Attendance Limits: All attendees must be registered Girl Scouts. We do not have a limit on adults, and we welcome them to join in the fun to experience all that Girl Scout camp has to offer. We do ask that all adults attending be prepared to help and support the troop leaders for the full duration of camp. We cannot accommodate tag-alongs, siblings, or any adults not registered as Girl Scouts. Note that all adults attending camp, even if it's just for a short time, must pay the full fee, attend one of the adult attendee meetings, and meet the other adult requirements specified below.
All adults attending camporee, for any amount of time, must meet the following requirements:
Register as a Girl Scout for the current year
Submit background check - leaders can verify through MYGS (CBC expiration)
Submit Live Scan fingerprints
Complete Mandatory Reporter Training
Complete the online course, Basic Overnights
Attend one of the in-person adult attendee meetings:
Monday, March 2 at 6:30 pm at San Marcos Elementary
Wednesday, March 4 at 6:30 pm at San Marcos Elementary
NOTE: We tried doing these meetings virtually for our October camporee and that was not successful. Therefore, we have to return to in-person meetings. These meetings are about girl safety and are mandatory for all adults that wish to attend camporee.
Forms - Troop leaders must have these forms at the event in case of emergency.
Trip Permission Slip: Signed, for each girl (new annual permission slip is not applicable for this event).
Health History: Current (updated this year) for every girl and adult.
Activity Approval: Each troop must submit an activity approval form, along with the Trip Permission Slip, to the Activity Consultant.
First Aid: Each troop must have a Level I First Aider (basic First Aid/CPR course) present and a first aid kit. Troops will handle routine issues, relying on the camp nurse only for emergencies.
Leadership Training: At least one adult attending with the troop must have completed all courses in the Leadership Training series that are applicable for the troop level. We recommend that at last one adult attending with the troop has completed the Girl Scout Camping Essentials training. It helps with your planning and managing your troop at camp, but is not required.
Adult Training: See Adult Requirements above for requirements for ALL adults attending camp.
Overnight Girl Progression: Girls must have done at least one sleepover as a troop, to prepare them for overnight. This camporee is for all experience levels, as long as girls are comfortable being away from home.
Safety: Leaders must review the appropriate Safety Activity Checkpoints before attending this event.
Breakfast is provided both Saturday and Sunday.
Dinner is provided on Saturday.
Troops are responsible for their own dinner on Friday.
Troops have the option to provide their own lunch on Saturday or order a camp-provided lunch for an additional fee. Order lunch here. Pay for lunch here payment page
Coffee and tea will be available in the lodge for adults only.
Camp Winacka has a variety of cabin types. We will discuss cabin options in detail at the adult attendee meetings, and you can review them in advance in the Property Resource Guide. We will contact troops for signups for cabins and activity timeslots in the order that payment/reservations were received, after the adult attendee meetings. Only troops whose adults have all attended a meeting will be eligible to sign up for activities and cabins.
Note: This list is a very brief overview. More details will be provided at the adult attendee meeting.
Orientation: Friday night before camp fire. ALL campers - girls and adults - are required to attend this important safety meeting.
Camp fire/skits: Friday night, after orientation, includes s'mores, songs and skits (sign up when you arrive on Friday).
SWAPS: Girls will have an opportunity to exchange SWAPS at camp. For more info about SWAPS, you can google SWAPS - there's tons of info out there. SWAPS are optional, but girls usually love doing them. They should make these ahead of time.
Scheduled activities: Archery (Brownies and up), axe throwing (Cadettes and up), slingshots (all levels), and fishing (all levels) require advance signup as space is limited. Signups will happen via email after the adult attendee meetings.
Other: We will also have crafts, hiking, badge ideas, and other activities that you can do on your own schedule during the day on Saturday.
NOTE: The pool will NOT be available, it's too early in the year (they open it sometime in June depending on weather).
Gear: Sleeping bag, pillow, etc. for sleeping. Cabins have mattresses which can be covered with a single fitted sheet (optional). Each girl must provide her own refillable water bottle and flashlight. Here is a sample packing list.
Clothing: All attendees must wear closed-toe shoes for safety. A warm jacket is recommended as nights outside can get cold. Otherwise, bring whatever comfortable clothing you want! We recommend leaving GS vests/tunics/sashes at home so they don't get dirty and/or lost.
