Beach Camporee is more relaxed than other events, with plenty of troop time in addition to a full day of water activities and crafts. Friday night dinner is brown bag (bring your own, no cooking). You'll have time to set up your camp site, then we'll have a group orientation and camp fire with songs and skits, and of course s'mores. Saturday is for boating, fun in the sun, and camp activities. We'll have a catered camp dinner, exchange SWAPS, and then enjoy some troop time for the rest of the evening. Each troop will have their own camp site, and prepare their own breakfast and lunch for Saturday, and breakfast for Sunday.
All San Marcos troops, Brownie and up, are invited to join in the fun!
Girls do not have to stay the whole time. Leaders must always know which girls they have on-site. Prices will not be adjusted or pro-rated for anyone who can't be there the whole time.

Attend one of the in-person adult attendee meetings:
Tuesday, September 15, 6:30pm, San Marcos Elementary School
Monday, September 21, 6:30pm, San Marcos Elementary School
All adults attending camporee MUST attend one of these meetings. We will cover important issues like water safety, camp safety, how to get to camp, where to check in, site rules, etc. These are safety issues, therefore, we cannot be flexible on this requirement. Adults can attend either meeting, both will cover the same information. If an adult in the troop cannot attend an in-person meeting, they are not eligible to attend camporee.
Forms - Troop leaders must have these forms at the event in case of emergency.
Trip Permission Slip: Signed, for each girl (annual permission slip is not applicable for this event).
Health History: Current (updated this year) for every girl and adult.
Activity Approval: Each troop must submit an activity approval form, along with the Trip Permission Slip, to the Activity Consultant.
First Aid: Each troop must have a Level I First Aider (basic First Aid/CPR course) present and a first aid kit. Troops will handle routine issues, relying on the camp nurse only for emergencies.
Leader Training: This is a tenting event. Therefore, one adult in attendance for each troop must have completed the outdoor training series, including Let's Tent. See below for training requirements for ALL adults.
Girl Progression: Girls MUST have done several sleepovers as a troop, including at least one tenting experience (back yard counts!). For troops that choose to cook, we recommend previous experience (it takes longer than you think). This camporee is not for beginning troops. We will provide support, but you will be mostly responsible for your troop's experience at camp.
Safety: Leaders must review the appropriate Safety Activity Checkpoints before attending this event.
Camp Rules: Review the rules from the city. We have the permits other paperwork handled on behalf of the group. We need troops to understand the rules of use, such as not driving through camp, not tying anything to trees, etc. Rules that you should review extra closely are #2, 13-21, 23.
Contact Info: The city requires us to provide a list of all adults at camp, including their name, email, cell phone, mailing address (submit through Adult Information/Training Form).
Bring whatever your troop will need for eating and sleeping! This includes cooking and cleaning supplies (e.g., stove, mess kits, dunk station). Here's a sample packing list you can edit and use for your girls. We recommend no-cook meals for less experienced campers - less stuff to bring, more time for camp fun!
Walking stick - Bring a walking stick to string the beads you'll earn for each camp activity. Sticks can be purchased from any home improvement store (Home Depot), or our native brush near San Marcos can also be a great source.
Water activities include stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming. We'll tie dye camp tshirts and do crafts. Morning (optional) all-camp activities include yoga on the beach and a polar bear swim. Girls can sing songs and do skits at camp fire (s'mores are provided!), and they'll exchange SWAPS with the other troops. Every activity you do at camp earns a bead for your walking stick!
We'll provide more details about planned camp activities at the camp pre-meeting.
