What happened last week?

• The picture above was taken just before the football game where both teams were recognized for our state runner up finish in 2024.  Alumni Corynn Gady, Abby Roth and Grace Roth joined us for the celebration.

• • • 10/13/2025 - Practice at Mill Pond Park at 3:15 - Senior Hills!!

    • 10/14/2025 and 10/15/2025 - Normal practice from Running Office

      • • 10/15/2025 is also MS Jambo 3 hosted by Saline Middle School.  The race will take place on the high school course and we will be there to support the MS program. 

        • 10/15/2025 is also pasta dinner for jambo 3.  This will be combined boys and girls programs in the Commons.  Here is a link to items each class needs to bring.

    • 10/16/2025 - Jambo 3 @ Hudson Mills Metropark

      • • Early dismissal at 12:15pm, bus leaves at 12:30pm

        • Varsity race at 2:30pm, open race at 4:30pm

    • 10/17/2025 - Varsity practice after school from Running Office

What happened last week?

• 2 Races: East Lansing Invite and Portage (0.5) Invitational.  Race Notes and results on anet.

• • • 10/6/2025-10/7/2025 - Normal Practice from the Running Office.

    • 10/8/2025 - Practice at MS Track @ 3:15pm

    • 10/9/2025 - Normal Practice from the Running Office

    • 10/10/2025 - 2 Events!!

      • • River Rat Invitational at Willow Metropark.  Our last trip to the park this year.  All athletes racing will run at 2:00pm. 

        • Early release at 11:30am.  Bus leaves at 11:45am

        • Recognition for 2024 State Meet Runner Up Team at Saline High School Football game

          • All athletes and alumni invited to participate.

          • Meet by concession stand at 6:15pm

          • Go to field level at 6:25pm, introduced on the field at 6:30pm

What happened last week?

• • • 9/29/2025 - 9/30/2025 Normal Practice from the Running Office.

    • 10/1/2025 - East Lansing Invitational for select athletes. Normal practice for those not going to East Lansing:

      • Dismissal is at 1:15pm and the bus leaves at 1:30pm

      • 4:00 - 9th and 10th grade race.

      • 4:50 - 11th and 12th grade race

    • 10/2/2025 - 10/3/2025 - Normal Practice from the Running Office

    • 10/4/2025 - Portage Invitational

      • Hornet Van with varsity girls leaves at 9:30am / Bus leaves at 10:30am for Open Athletes

      • Varsity - 1:00pm / Open race at 3:00pm.

Week of 9/22/2025

What happened last week?

• We had a special visitor on Thursday.  A photographer from the Detroit News attended practice to take some pictures of the team for an article that will be released later this week. 

• 1 meet, 2 different dates:

  • • Friday - Jackson Invite for Open Runners.  Read about the team champions and individual champion, Kate Munson, in race notes.

    • Saturday morning, varsity was in action at a very competitive Jackson Invite.   The team took 5th in the loaded field.  Details in race notes.

• • • 9/22/2025 - 9/24/2025 Normal Practice from the Running Office.

    • 9/24/2025 - Pasta Dinner at the Bonfiglio house.  Details can be found here.

    • 9/25/2025 - Jambo 2 at Bedford.  We have a bus to this meet that will leave at 2:15pm.  Early release at 1:55pm.  Varsity races at 4:30pm and Open will run at 5:35pm.  

    • 9/26/2025 - Normal practice from the Running Office

What happened last week?

• 2 meets:

    • Freshmen/Senior night was 9/6/2025

• We had pasta dinner #1 at the Stager house.  Thank you, Alisa and Andy for hosting what may be your last pasta dinner of many hosted over the years!

• • • 9/15/2025 - 9/16/2025 Normal Practice from the Running Office.

    • 9/17/2025 - Meet at MS Track at 3:15pm for long run and hills

    • 9/18/2025 - Normal practice from running office

    • 9/19/2025 - Jackson Invitational Open Race - 5:30pm.  Shared bus with the boys team will leave at 3:15pm.

    • 9/20/2025 - Jackson Invitational Varsity Race - 9:00am.  Bus leaves at 6:45am

• It can be a long walk to the course at Jackson so plan ahead.

  • 9/25 - Jambo 2 @ Bedford.  It is likely we will have a shared bus again for this meet and will need some athletes to get rides.  Due to the distance to the meet location, coaches prefer athletes not drive themselves (but that is a parent/guardian decision)

• • • 9/8/2025 - Pasta Dinner #1 hosted by the Stagers.  Details can be found here.

    • 9/9/2025 - Jambo 1 @ Willow Metropark

      • Varsity Race at 4:30pm, Open Race at 5:30pm

      • Early release at 2:10pm and the bus leaves the school at 2:30pm.  We have one bus to share with the boys team.  We need to know how many need to ride the bus and how many can self transport.  Please fill out this form ASAP.  

    • 9/10-9/12 - Normal practice at high school - 

      • After practice on 9/10, we will have a work day to write some thank you notes to our supporters.  

    • 9/13/2025 - We're back at Willow Metropark for the 3rd meet in a row.  This time it's the Huron Invite

      • Varsity race at 9:05am and Open Race at 10:40am

      • Bus leaves at 7:15am

• There is a fee to enter Willow Metropark and the lines can be long.  Please plan ahead.

Week of 9/1/2025

What happened last week?

What's happening this week (if you read nothing else, please read this section)?

• 9/1/2025 - no school, no practice but a workout is posted for the day

• 9/2/2025 - 9/4/2025 - Normal practice after school

• 9/5/2025 - Athletes going to the Bret Clements Bath Invitational will leave immediately after school.  Athletes going to Bath were notified last week.  Athletes running at Rambling Rock will have normal practice after school.

• 9/6/2025  - 2 meets this weekend:

  • • Bret Clements Bath Invitational (athletes attending and their parents have been made aware of this race) - Race time is 8:30am.  

    • Rambling Rock @ Willow Metropark.  Race Times: 10:10am - Varsity Race (top 7), 11:20am - Girls Reserve Race.  Please note that freshmen will run in either the varsity or open races.  We will not participate in the freshmen race at this meet.  The bus for this meet will leave at 8:15am from the athletic entrance at the high school.  This means the doors are closed and the bus is leaving the parking lot. It is expected that all athletes will be on the bus to and from the meet unless they have permission to do otherwise.  Athletes who are traveling to any meet on their own must arrive at the meet location 1 hour and 15 minutes before race time and stay until the wrap up meeting at the end of the meet. 

    • There is a fee to enter Willow Metropark and the lines can be long.  Please plan ahead.

Week of 8/25/2025

Important Note for New Runners: New athletes will need to purchase a new jersey this year.  It's nice that the head track coach, Coach Lagerquist, is also a cross country coach.  This new jersey will be used for both cross country and track.  There are 2 styles of jersey - loose and tight - and they can be purchased here.  We have the jersey's in the office so your athlete can try one on for sizing before you buy.  Please make sure this jersey is purchased ASAP.  Along with this jersey, your athlete will need a pair of navy running shorts in a style comfortable to them.  If purchasing this jersey presents a hardship, please reach out to Coach Stern for scholarship availability. 

What happened last week?

• We had a great week of training.  We also had the all important team pictures.

• Friday we had our first race of the season, the Saline Campus Invite.  We faced some tough competition and the team did well.  Please see the race notes for an update. You can find full results on athletic.net

• 8/25 - 8/28 - 3pm practice at Running Office.

• 8/29 - practice will be on your own.  If you're headed out of town for the weekend, please be safe and enjoy!

• Our next races are 9/6.  The team will split with some of our varsity athletes going to Bath and others going to the Rambling Rock Invitational at Willow Metropark.

Week of 8/18/2025

What happened last week?

• We had a very challenging practice on Monday and long run on Wednesday.  We knew the team was going into our time trial without optimal rest.  That's okay, we were all racing with the same level of rest.

What's happening this week (if you read nothing else, please read this section)?

• 8/18 - 7:30am practice at Mill Pond Park for hills.  We will also be assigning athletes to training groups on this day based on time trial results.  Training group assignments are fluid and can be adjusted as the season continues.   Freshmen are excused from this practice for orientation

• 8/19 - 7:30am - meet at running office for a recovery run

• 8/20 - 7:30am - meet at running office for long run

• 8/21 - Picture Day.  Normal practice at 7:30am (recovery run) and then we have pictures scheduled for 3pm.  Seniors and those wanting individual pictures should report at 2:45pm. Pictures will take place by the pond across the street from the high school.  

• 8/22 - Saline Campus Invite - We will race at 9:00am.  We need volunteers for this meet.  If you are able to help, please sign up here.
