MASTERS 2018
74 players registered for this year's Tennis NB Masters and 68 participated. The forecast for rain understandably caused some cancellations. Players came from Ontario, Nova Scotia, Maine, Pennsylvania, Bermuda and one from from London, England as well as many from various places in New Brunswick. There were 17 age categories of ladies and mens singles, ladies and mens doubles and mixed doubles.
Once again we were most fortunate to have the use of two private courts which made the tournament possible. Along with the four town courts there was plenty of action albeit all on one day. Grateful thanks go to the Lyman and Leighton families for their generosity in allowing SACTA to have the use of their courts for the weekend.
As was the case at last year's Masters the weather played havoc with the schedule. A few matches were played on Friday afternoon. Thanks to all those who were at the courts on Saturday morning and made a huge effort to get the courts dry. Play was cancelled in the early afternoon when heavy rain fell for several hours. This made for a very full schedule on Sunday.
All the matches were completed and the last balls were struck at 8.45pm. We're not quite sure how the players were able to see them.
