2022 Mixed Doubles League

2022 Weekend Doubles League, starting Saturday May 21

Only SACTA members can play in this league and you must bring a new can of balls the first time you play. New balls will be used every weekend and you may be asked to bring another can if the supply runs out before the end of the season.

You must inform me before "Thursday noon" if you want to play on "Saturday" and before "Friday noon" if you want to play on "Sunday".

Teams.

Unlike last year, the teams will be determined on the day of play. When you arrive at the courts the first 4 players can proceed directly to the court. Toss to determine who will be your partner. Jenni or I will be there to collect balls from new players and to pass out balls for playing.

Format

The first team to win 6 games is the winner. If there is a tie at 5-5 whoever wins the next game is the winner.

Winners from one court will play winners from another court but switch partners like before. In a 3 court scenario we will rotate teams to the right after each match.

Stats.

Mike Power will be our statistician this year. He will be keeping track of all the winners and losers so please report your scores each day.

Update for Week 10 - July 30-31

Welcome Gill to the mixed doubles league and you have proven once again that you have what it takes to catapult yourself to the top and to carry Gordon with you, that was even more amazing. First day out, no losses and 100% average, ho hum, any routine day at the office.

Apologies Lori for putting your name on the roster but not informing you of the time change. Incompetence has it rewards because I informed Louise of the time change but she was not on the roster and in spite of all these mishaps everything seemed to work out. Time for a new organiser I heard.

Can't say the men are doing well with competition. 3 ladies with 100% averages, something the men can't seem to achieve. When they achieve it they can't maintain it, sounds familiar ladies? Glad that I am not one of those men, happy to be on the bottom.

There won't be any doubles next weekend unless you are playing in the Masters. Saturday 13th is the 23 rd Memorial tournament and barbecue which I am hoping all the new members will attend. This tournament won't be as expensive as the Masters because you have already paid for it with your membership dues. This is truly a fun tournament because even the losers are allowed to eat and if you don't play well you don't go home hungry.

Good luck to all those playing in the Masters next week and see you on the courts in 2 weeks time.
