HOW LONG CAN I STAY IN A HOTEL?

Members with accompanying dependents are entitled up to 30 days of hotel lodging and per diem (for meals and other expenses) while waiting to move into on or off base housing (may be extended beyond 30 days if necessary for on-base housing). Unaccompanied/single Sailors are NOT entitled to hotel/TLA.

WHERE CAN I MAKE A RESERVATION?

**Upon receipt of orders**, make a reservation at the Navy Lodge or Navy Gateway Inn and Suites which are both located on base. It should be for 30 days. Approximate check-in date is okay - it can be modified later if necessary. Indicate if you will have a pet with you. If no vacancy, obtain a Certificate of Non-Availability (CNA) from them in order for you to book at an APPROVED hotel off-base (see list below). You may also continue checking with the Navy Lodge or NGIS for cancellations (many times rooms will open up).

**Navy Lodge or NGIS are more convenient for initial base checking. Walking distance to security, housing office, etc.**

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?

Navy Lodge rooms come with a kitchenette, cooking-ware and dining-ware. NGIS rooms come with microwave ovens and mini-fridge. Both are located in close proximity to all initial base check-in locations and the NEX/Commissary.

HOW DO I GET REIMBURSED FOR HOTEL AND FOOD?

Members are responsible for payment of hotel and expenses. Expenses are reimbursable in 10 day increments through Travel Lodging Allowance (TLA).

1. **Prior to your move, you may request Advance Payment of TLA to assist you in case of reimbursement delays after you arrive**

2. After every 10 nights, get a paid hotel receipt.

3. Bring the paid receipt to the Housing office. They will issue you a one-page Claim for TLA.

4. Submit both documents to the ship's office. Reimbursement amount will be deposited into your bank account. Length of time for deposit varies but should not be more than one month.

HOW MUCH DO I GET FOR EACH 10-DAY PERIOD?

• The amount you paid for 10 hotel night stays

PLUS:

• 10 days worth of Per Diem for food and expenses depending on who is staying at the hotel:

  • • Spouse Only (Member is not with them)

      • • $100 / day ($100 x 100%)

    • Member and 1 dependent

      • • $100 / day ($100 x 100%) - total, not for each person

    • 2 dependents only (Member is not with them)

      • • $100 / day ($100 x 100%) - total, not for each person

    • More than 2 hotel occupants:

      • • $100 / day ($100 x 100%) - total for 1st 2 occupants, not for each person

        • PLUS:

        • $35 / day ($100 x 35%) per child 12 and older

        • $25 / day ($100 x 25%) per child under 12

• (less than 10 days is calculated proportionately)
