Aleph Lesson 4/7

Hi Aleph Friends,

Shabbat is special to me because it gives my family a chance to breathe and come together to talk, catch up and share a delicious meal. Today I will be reading the book The Shabbat Box. Below you will see all the Shabbat prayers, a recipe for challah (for after Passover) and instructions on making your own Shabbat box. Have fun and be creative! Please send pictures of your box to morahlaurier@gmail.com.

Happy Passover! XO

Morah Laurie

Make Your Own Shabbat Box

Use an old shoe box. Decorate it with whatever you have at home - stickers, yarn, buttons, pictures anything you like.

When it’s dry fill with special Shabbat items. Here are some things you can make:

  1. Write a Shabbat story - draw pictures - place the blessings in the book - maybe put a picture of your family having Shabbat

  2. Make candle stick holders - decorate small tin cans or baby food jars

  3. Make a kiddish cup - glue glitter or jewels on a plastic cup

  4. Make a challah cover- use a piece of an old T-shirt pillowcase or handkerchief

  5. Decorate with fabric markers, permanent markers or dip colored tissue paper in water
    and paint with that.

  6. Make a flower vase out of a empty water bottle - decorate with stickers or glue in
    pictures

  7. Make a candy bowl - use a plastic bowl and decorate it

  8. Make a special placemat - you can draw a picture or glue down pictures from a
magazine like if candlesticks, kiddish cup, challah and anything that makes you think of Shabbat.
