Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC)

Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) is a Myanmar Baptist denominational body whose members practice the Baptist faith. It is an evangelical organization based on holistic missions. Its headquarters are in Myitkyina, Kachin State, Myanmar. It has 15 associations and over 300 churches, and has 13 Departments. Most of the members in KBC are of Kachin nationality. Some believers within KBC are the fruits of labor from mission works to other tribes and races. According to 2000 census, KBC had more than 141,952 baptized members and more than 153,913 non-baptized members. In 2018, there were more than 400,000 baptized and non-baptized members. It currently has 449 ordained ministers and 790 un-ordained ministers.

Youth Department (KBC-YD)

KBC – Youth Department is one of the main departments of KBC which is leading development programs mainly for youth in order to improve their communities and societies. KBC-YD has over 80,000 youth members throughout 17 associations and oversea networks of KBC. KBC-YD has a strong network at the grass-root level with the ability to reach each association. Through these existing networks, the KBC-YD is able to implement the strategic vision to mobilize and transform the lives of its youth members for a sustainable and prosperous future in communities as young and energetic Christians.

Kachin Theology College and Seminary (KTCS)

The history of Kachin Theological College (KTC), now Kachin Theological College and Seminary (KTCS), can be traced back to 1901. Rev. Dr. Ola Hanson, a missionary who translated the Bible into Kachin, introduced Bible classes for Kachin and Karen evangelists somewhere in Myitkyina, Bhamo and Nam Hkam in 1901. Rev. Sword, another American missionary, also established a small Bible school in Nam Hkam. These Bible classes could be considered as the forerunners of KTCS.
