In September of 1833, missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints taught the gospel to Clarinda while her husband Andrew was away. She was converted shortly after with Andrew following in her footsteps. They later moved to Kirtland, Ohio where the rest of the Church was. They also moved to Nauvoo, Illinois where they received their Endowment in 1846.
In 1852, the Knapp family started their journey from Nauvoo to Utah. They joined the John M. Higby Company. The family arrived in Salt Lake City on August 13, 1852. Andrew and Clarinda made a permanent home in Provo.
After they arrived in Salt Lake, Clarinda's adult children moved away some moving to Richmond.
