Levi Knapp Allen

Levi Knapp Allen was born April 1, 1842 in Virginia Township, Illinois to Andrew Lee and Clarinda Knapp Allen.

Early Life

By the time Levi was a child, his family had joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were living in Nauvoo, Illinois. Levi was 10 years old when he moved with his family to Utah. 

Life in Richmond

Levi moved to Richmond in 1862 with his mother while she was returning to Utah from visiting family in California. He, along with his eldest sister Lydia, cared for Clarinda up until her death in December 1862. He and Lydia continued to live together until her death in 1870 when he moved to Cove and built a log house in 1871. While there, he helped to construct the first Church house and Schoolhouse in Cove. Levi lived and farmed in Cove for the rest of his life up until his death

Epilogue

Levi Knapp Allen died Feb 18, 1928 in Cove. He was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
