5-day online FDP on Applied Statistical Data Analysis using SPSS; Date: 08 to 12 Sept 2025; Organizer: SSSIHL, Bengaluru
I will be explaining the various types of extension that can be used in our respective conceptual model by using the example of the UTAUT2 model (Venkatesh 2012). This type of approach can be applied to the existing models to extend them for our respective study.
You can use these 4 approaches (Venkatesh 2016) to extend a model for your respective research:
New Exogenous mechanism: refer to the impacts of external predictors on the 7 exogenous variables in UTAUT2. For Example, In a meta-analysis on digital payment, the study found Perceived Security affecting Trust.
New Endogenous mechanism: 1) new predictors’ impact on the 2 endogenous variables in UTAUT2 or 2) the enrichment of the 7 exogenous variables and the 2 endogenous variables in the original UTAUT2. For Example, as part of a Mobile Banking or Mobile Payment study, it is critical for consumers to trust the service provides (MNO, apps etc.) and hence the money transferred from source to recipient should be successful. Hence, I could add Trust as a factor or variable to be examined as part of my study.
New Moderating mechanism: include new moderating effects added to the original UTAUT2, including the moderation of new relationships. For Example, during the part of the study, I could examine the effect of demonetization in India. This phenomenon is quite unique from the context of India, this kind of analysis could provide further insight to the respondents.
New Outcome mechanism: new consequences of behavioral intention and technology use added to the original UTAUT2. For example, I could add Satisfaction and Loyalty as an additional outcome variable to be examined as part of the study.
