Installing Reference Style in Mendeley

How to install and use a Reference Style in Mendeley?

Step 1: Choose a particular journal

I will use “IIMB Management Review” (an Elsevier journal) as an example to explain the steps

The journal home page is https://www.journals.elsevier.com/iimb-management-review

Step 2: Click on “guide for authors”

Step 3: Scroll down the section “Reference management software”

You will find the following link to install the reference style for Mendeley

http://open.mendeley.com/use-citation-style/iimb-management-review

Step 4: Ensure that you have opened Mendeley Desktop application

Click on the link in Step 4

It will open Mendeley Desktop and will install the reference style

Step 5: You can check the installed Citation Style using the following steps in Mendeley Desktop

View -> Citation Styles -> IIMB Management Review (will be selected)

To verify the installed citation style

View -> Citation Styles -> more styles

In the 1^st tab page titled “Installed”, you will be able to find the style “IIMB Management Review”

To cite a reference (using the above style) in a word document

In-text citation (for 2 authors)

(Sankaran & Chakraborty, 2021)

In-text citation (for more than 5 authors)

(Nakagawa et al., 2019)
