The following are the step-by-step guide to install Mendeley Reference Manager (MRM).
A. Steps to install Mendeley Reference Manager
1. Go to https://www.mendeley.com/reference-management/reference-manager
2. Assuming you are using a Windows-based laptop or desktop, click on the button “Download Now”
(screen-shot below, Red colour)
3. Choose (or create) an appropriate folder to save the installer mendeley-reference-manager-2.77.0.exe (say) in C:\Download.
Note: Ensure to download the latest version Mendeley Reference Manager from the website.
4. Double Click or press Enter key to start the installation
5. Follow the steps to install Mendeley Desktop (in the default folder)
B. Steps to Create an account in Mendeley
1. Go to https://www.mendeley.com/ (or from the webpage in the previous step)
2. Click on “Create account”. It will take you to the Elsevier webpage
3. If you have an existing account with Elsevier, use the same email ID to sign-in.
4. In case you do not have an existing account with Elsevier, enter the email ID. Click Continue.
5. In the next “Register” dialog box, enter your name and choose a password to Register the account.
· Note: Choose a unique password with a minimum of 8 characters.
· Include at least 1 number, a mix of lowercase and uppercase letters and 1 symbol to make your password strong.
6. Once successful, you can use the account to log in to Mendeley.com.
Ensure to sync your library, in case you have been using an earlier version of Mendeley (example, desktop search for papers, groups or people.
C. Steps to install Mendeley Cite
1. After installing Mendeley Reference Manager, select
Tools -> Install Mendeley Cite for Microsoft Word
2. It takes to the Microsoft AppSource to install Mendeley Cite. Follow the steps
3. As a confirmation, go to References tab page in Microsoft Word.
You will notice Mendeley Cite in the References Tab Page.
D. Steps to install Mendeley Web Importer
1. After installing Mendeley Reference Manager, select
Tools -> Install Mendeley Web Importer
2. It takes to the Mendeley Website. Click on the button "Get Web Importer for Chrome".
Follow the steps to complete the installation.
