• This artifact is a presentation that I created about Understanding Language, an organization that provides professional development resources related to teaching English learners.

Connection to Standard:

• This artifact connects to indicator 9D: "The competent teacher identifies paths for continuous professional growth and improvement, including the design of a professional growth plan."  The artifact connects to this indicator because I identified a path for continuous professional growth and improvement through the Understanding Language organization.

What I Learned:

• Through the creation of this artifact, I learned that teachers can find professional development resources easily by simply researching organizations that provide them.

• This artifact is my Mandated Reporter certificate.

Connection to Standard:

• This artifact connects to indicator 9R: "The competent teacher is aware of and complies with the mandatory reporter provisions of Section 4 of the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act [325 ILCS 5/4]."  The artifact connects to this indicator because I received the certificate for understanding the mandatory reporter provisions of Section 4 of the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.

What I Learned:

• Through the training that I completed in order to receive this certificate, I learned what is required of mandated reporters and how a report can be made.
