Artifact Description:
This artifact is a report on a functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention plan for a student that I observed during one of my placements.
Connection to Standard:
This artifact connects to indicator 4G: "The competent teacher knows strategies to implement behavior management and behavior intervention planning to ensure a safe and productive learning environment." The artifact connects to the indicator because in the artifact, I identified a function-based treatment, an antecedent-based strategy, and general classroom strategies for a student. These strategies are related to behavior intervention planning for a student in order to make sure that the student is in an environment that is safe and allows the student to learn.
What I Learned:
Through the creation of this artifact, I learned how to identify target problem behaviors, collect antecedent-behavior-consequence data, and develop a behavior plan for a specific student.
Artifact Description:
This artifact is a science lesson plan about parts of a plant.
Connection to Standard:
This artifact connects to indicator 4N: "The competent teacher engages students in and monitors individual and group-learning activities that help them develop the motivation to learn." The artifact connects to the indicator because through the lesson, I engaged students in working with a partner to create a diagram of a plant and working individually to label the parts of a plant on a diagram. The activities were engaging for the students, so they helped the students become eager to learn. I also monitored the students as they worked on the activities to provide support and encouragement as needed.
What I Learned:
By creating this artifact, I learned how to plan and implement a partner activity that can help students develop skills related to working with others toward a common goal.
