Artifact Description:
This artifact is a math lesson plan about finding solutions to addition story problems. The lesson plan includes differentiation for one student with ADHD.
Connection to Standard:
This artifact connects to indicator 3C: "The competent teacher understands cultural, linguistic, cognitive, physical, and social and emotional differences, and considers the needs of each student when planning instruction." The artifact connects to the indicator because I created the lesson plan based on the cognitive differences between a class as a whole and one student with ADHD. I considered the needs of the student with ADHD when writing my lesson plan for instruction and differentiated in order to meet the student's needs and allow the student to participate in the lesson.
What I Learned:
By creating the artifact, I learned how to plan for the inclusion of a student with ADHD in a lesson by planning for differentiation.
Artifact Description:
This artifact is an IEP document that I wrote based on a case study of a student with a specific learning disability.
Connection to Standard:
This artifact connects to indicator 3I: "The competent teacher creates short-term and long-term plans to achieve the expectations for student learning." The artifact connects to this indicator because I created an IEP, which is a long-term plan, to help a student meet his goals for learning.
What I Learned:
Through the creation of this artifact, I learned how to write an IEP based on a specific student's strengths, needs, and goals. I also learned how to write an IEP that is legally compliant.
