Artifact Description:
This artifact is an annotated list with a focus on literacy research. For each source, I included discussion of the study that was done and how the information in the source can inform the way that I teach.
Connection to Standard:
This artifact connects to indicator 2F: "The competent teacher knows how to access the tools and knowledge related to latest findings (e.g., research, practice, methodologies) and technologies in the disciplines." The artifact connects to the indicator because I accessed articles with information found through studies about how to teach literacy in various disciplines in order to create the annotated list.
What I Learned:
Through the creation of this artifact, I learned how to access reliable sources with information about effective teaching practices.
Artifact Description:
This artifact is a science lesson plan focusing on reusing materials. The lesson includes reading out of a textbook, creating a design with tangram pieces, and participating in stations to create designs with different materials.
Connection to Standard:
This artifact connects to indicator 2M: "The competent teacher uses a variety of explanations and multiple representations of concepts that capture key ideas to help each student develop conceptual understanding and address common misunderstandings." The artifact connects to this indicator because I used multiple representations of the concept of reusing materials during the lesson. Students were introduced to the concept through text, an art activity, and hands-on stations in order to assist each student in understanding the concept and clarify misunderstandings.
What I Learned:
Through the creation of this artifact, I learned how to incorporate engaging and hands-on activities into a lesson to illustrate concepts being taught through a text.
