Artifact Description:

• This artifact is an assessment report for a student in one of my placement classrooms.  The report includes an explanation of the administration of the assessments and how I could use the data to inform my future instruction.

Connection to Standard:

• This artifact connects to indicator 7K: "The competent teacher appropriately uses a variety of formal and informal assessments to evaluate the understanding, progress, and performance of an individual student and the class as a whole."  The artifact connects to the indicator because I appropriately used a variety of informal assessments to determine the understanding and performance of one student in a class.

What I Learned:

• Through the creation of the artifact, I learned how to administer an Informal Reading Inventory to identify the reading levels of a student.

Artifact Description:

• This artifact is an assessment plan for a student receiving special education services.  The plan is in relation to IEP goals for the student and how they would be assessed over time.

Connection to Standard:

• This artifact connects to indicator 7I: "The competent teacher knows assessment and progress monitoring techniques to assess the effectiveness of instruction for each student."  The artifact connects to the indicator because I identified assessment and progress monitoring techniques to assess the effectiveness of instruction on a student's IEP goals.

What I Learned:

• Through the creation of this artifact, I learned about the uses of different types of assessments and how to create an appropriate data sheet to track progress.
