Eid ul-Adha (Eid al-Adha) is the Muslim holiday that celebrates the obedience to God by Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) when God tested his willingness to sacrifice his son.
Eid ul-Adha is on the 10th day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah which is the 12th month and the last month in the Islamic lunar (Moon) calendar.
The small crescent of the new Moon seen soon after sunset shows the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. Eid ul-Adha starts on the tenth day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah.
Never look at the Sun because it can cause blindness and other eye damage.

3. Eid al-Adha in the Quran. Eid al-Adha in the Koran.
Quran 2:196 Verse 2:196 Perform the pilgrimage (Hajj) and the visit ('Umrah) for God. But if you are prevented (from completing it) send an offering for sacrifice that you can find (like a camel, cow or sheep to Makkah) and do not shave your heads until the offering reaches the place of sacrifice. And if any of you is ill or has an ailment in his scalp (requiring it to be shaved), (he should) in compensation either fast (for 3 days), or feed the poor (6 poor people) or offer sacrifice (one sheep). When you are in safety (at peace with the stone idol worshippers in Makkah) then if anyone wishes to continue from the Umra (Visit) on to the Hajj (pilgrimage) than before (performing) the Hajj (pilgrimage) that person must make an animal sacrifice that the person can afford but if the person cannot afford it the person should fast three days during the Hajj and seven days on their return, making ten days in all. This is for those whose home is not in (the Makkah area of) the sacred mosque. And fear God and know that God Is strict in punishment.
Quran 2:197 Verse 2:197 The pilgrimage (Hajj) is (performed in) the well known (lunar year) months (i.e. the 10th month, the 11th month and the first ten days of the 12th month of the Islamic calendar, i.e. two months and ten days). Whosoever intends to perform the pilgrimage in those months should not have sexual relations (with his wife), not commit sin and not dispute unjustly during the pilgrimage. And whatever good you do (know) that God knows it. And take a provision (with you) for the journey but the best provision is righteousness. So all (you) people who have understanding, fear Me (God).
Quran 2:198 Verse 2:198 There is no sin on you if you seek the bounty of your Lord (during pilgrimage by trading etc.). Then when you leave (Mount) Arafat, remember God (by praising Him in prayers) at the sacred monument Mashar-al-Haram. Remember Him (God) because He (God) guided you (to the right path) whereas before you were one of those who were astray (on the wrong path).
Quran 2:199 Verse 2:199 Then depart quickly from the place where all the people depart and ask God for His (God’s) forgiveness. Truly, God is most forgiving and most merciful.
Quran 2:200 Verse 2:200 So when you have completed your devotions then remember God (in praise) much more than you remember your ancestors. Among humans there are some who say, "Our Lord (God), give us (Your bounties) in this world" and for this there is no reward in the hereafter.
Quran 2:201 Verse 2:201 And there are some among them who say, “Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the hereafter and save us from the punishment of the fire.”
Quran 2:202 Verse 2:202 For them they shall be given a reward for what they have done. And God is swift to account (for what you do).
Quran 2:203 Verse 2:203 And remember God during the appointed days (of the pilgrimage) but if anyone leaves in two days there is no sin on them and whoever stays on there is no sin on them if their aim is to do good and obey God. Know that you shall surely be gathered to Him (God in the hereafter).
