Chinese Moon Exploration Program (CLEP)
1. First part of Chinese Moon exploration (嫦娥-1 工程) was launched in 1428 AH (24 October 2007) and 1431 AH (1 October 2010) when two satellites named Chang'e 1 and Chang'e 2 were placed in orbit around the Moon.
2. Second part of Chinese Moon exploration (嫦娥-2 工程) is planned for 1434 AH (2012) with the first landing on the Moon of two rovers.
3. Third part of Chinese Moon exploration (嫦娥-3 工程) is planned for 1439 AH (2017) with the launch of an automated Moon landing and return to Earth of Moon soil samples.
4. Fourth part of Chinese Moon exploration (嫦娥-4 工程) is planned for 1446 AH (2024) with a human mission to the Moon and permanent Chinese bases (月面驻留) on the Moon.
Qi Faren (戚发轫) of the Chinese Academy of Science (chief designer of the Shenzhou spacecraft and Researcher in the China Space flight Technology Research Institute) said in 1427 AH (2006): " 搞航天工程不是要达成升空之旅，而是要让人可以正常在太空中工作，为将来探索火星、土星等作好准备。"
“Carrying out space programs is not aimed at sending humans into space for no reason but is done to allow humans to work in space normally for the future exploration of (the planets) Mars and Saturn and else where (in space).”
Space cities in China were thousands of people work in the Chinese space exploration program includes:
1. Dongfeng space city (东风航天城)，also known as Base 20 (二十基地) or Dongfeng base (东风基地).
2. Beijing space city (北京航天城).
3. Wenchang space city (文昌航天城).
4. Shanghai space city (上海航天城).
5. Yantai space city (烟台航天城).
6. Guizhou Aerospace Industrial Park (贵州航天高新技术产业园).
