GSLIS students of INFO 7099.3 Geographic Information (Fall 2025) under the supervision of Associate Professor Nerve Macaspac launch Mapping Weeksville: Experimental Geographies of Freedom, a video essay exploring Weeksville, a historic neighborhood, located in now Crown Heights, of free Black people in the 19th Century. The video essay integrates student-created maps, historical and contemporary images, and a sonic landscape that re-traces the geographies and meanings of freedom, in the past and present.
